Sudeep makes his debut in Kollywood today and he's excited. Playing the antagonist in PVP Cinemas' Naan Ee, he says that it was directorS S Rajamouli that made him sign the film. "I believed in Rajamouli's conviction. He is a perfectionist and he always gives his best. I know that the movie will fetch great things for not just him but the entire team," says he.
Sudeep, who spends a major part of the film battling a housefly, says, "When we shot those scenes, there wasn't a housefly around. Hence, it was like mono-acting, since I had to believe that the fly was around, trying to torture me. How did I do it? I had the presence of a good director and technical team by my side that made me feel at ease."
Being in a comfortable position in Sandalwood, what made him choose to debut with a film like this? "I didn't go around looking for a script to debut. When I was approached with this script, it was adventurous and something new. The fact that it appealed to my creative side was the reason I signed it. I look at my signing this bilingual as an expansion in my profession," says Sudeep, who adds, "The high point for me was that a director like Rajamouli called me to be part of his film."
The actor, who recently played host to the film's team when they were in Bangalore promoting the film, says that this film is going to be "a landmark in his career". "There's no denying that the film has created a lot of buzz across India, irrespective of the language the people speak. The fact that Bollywood makers are talking about this film is proof that the team has achieved its first step. I'm privileged to be part of such a film," signs off the actor.
