‘I need only critical acclaim’

Kicha Sudheep, who is on a career peak post Naan Ee, was in the city recently for the film’s success meet.
The cool-and-composed Sudheep said that he had been to Chennai on several occasions earlier, but this one was heart-warming.
“This one is special for me. The moment my producers said that they have arranged a press gathering, I thought a small crowd would turn up. Now, I am floored by the huge crowd which has gathered here. You have made my day.”
The actor, who is a big name in Kannada, feels that he received an Oscar when Rajini called and appreciated his work. “I don’t look forward to receiving any other awards now.
I need to get only critical acclaim. One day, when I was sitting with my producer friend in Bengaluru, Rajini sir called on his phone.
Suddenly, my friend gave the line to me and said ‘speak’. I was clueless as to who was on the line. I couldn’t even ask who it was because the speaker was on! In his typical style, he said that I had done a great job. I could recognise his voice.
But, I did wonder if anyone was imitating Rajini’s voice and fooling me. All the iconic people have my number stored on their phone book. Yes, that was enough for me as far as awards are concerned.”
Dialogue writer Crazy Mohan, lyricist Madhan Karky and Rajeev Kamineni from PVP, were also present at the event.
